well put Nala and nice to see somebody else on here, please stay a little longer or visit when you can - the more we shout the louder our voice and the only way to do that is have many people shouting!

hi folks, dropped in for a quick look around to see whats been going on. We are all busy doing our own thing, with an eye on this site, perhaps other sites too, watching how our journeys intersect, with the aim on improving whats all around us. We all know some journey's are longer than others but no matter the distance its who you meet along the way that matters most, if you can help thats what you do, in any way you can. Support comes in many forms be it by membership fee, donations or quiet simply words of encouragement, they are all equaly as valuable, lets all work together for a much better place for everyone. Just do what you can.

Fair comment Stuart, in this case you are but the mouthpiece of the set however it seemed that there was those who wanted to belong but did not intend to take part - why go to a party and not play the party games?
-
In case there's any misunderstanding: when the site was set up, my administrator decided that in the normal way there would be a group containing all members that I would use to communicate with everybody. Instead, I used the mailing system. Meanwhile, members of the group were getting notifications whenever someone posted to the wall. Since they had not voluntarily joined the group, some were annoyed by this. I felt that only those who wanted to opt in to the group should be in it - so that was the reason for the email. I'm not trying to exclude anyone - I just want to make sure that nobody is forced into something by default.

Seriously, I agree that membership fees apply to everyone who wants to become a member, whether it be dependents, relatives or friends. The boss needs funding.
Richard of the family DaCosta That's what I meant you don't need to be spending your coin fighting the good fight while most of us watch from the sidelines. The expenses to gain independence and sovereignty should be shared by all of us, right? Otherwise, how can we really appreciate it unless we all sacrifice to gain it? If I weren't on the other side of the world I would gladly accompany you to court. In summary, do we need to set up a fund to help this process advance? It appears the effort is going to very beneficial. It also appears to me Stuart is doing all the work. Hope I didn't stir up the bee hive too much but let's be frank fellow citizens.45 days ago -
You're our leader Stuart. Familiarity breeds contempt. We can't be friends with you he he.

What Mike said!

from an email just received it seems we may be going the way that we are trying to fight against! Now that would be a shame - keep me in please adminstrator - I'll tell you when I'm not happy - I'll leave

a family membership would include all immediate members of the family (mum, dad, (or two adults) plus all children under say 16 after that they pay as normal) - I doubt this would reduce the costs much if it cost say one and a half times and as Stuart says any child who has a parent who already is a member would join for free. As for the vote - let us say a family has two votes i.e. one for each adult if they want more they join as an individual

I don't have many friends it seems. I'm glad to be friends with any members.

We are all sovereign in our own right and it seemed to me a bit strange that one person should join as the subsidiary of another. If it's a matter of the money, that's something the Ting can sort out when it's up and working. I'm frustrated at the moment not being able to get the voting system up as I want it, but those problems should be sorted in the next few days. I could set up another membership for minors, who could join free if a parent is already a member.

I like that idea Chris (family membership) seems highly sensible to me, not sure about the dog or cat though? do they get full voting rights and how do we prove it (not many dog,s cats or crocodiles that can type!)
-
Chris - you are of course right - I thought of that after the post (especially as it was in a quiet lake) but thought to leave it as was!

Hello All,
I joined in January 2012 and have received my Certificate of Full Membership and thought that I would drop by and say Hi!
I am looking forward to interacting with the rest of you and want to wish Stuart the best of luck and keep up the great work! -
Mike: Could be an electric motor.
Richard: good point. Most clubs allow membership to be extended to family members that live in the same house. As membership is at the moment, to generate money, that maybe seen as a bad thing. However I can't see more than 1 membership per house hold.
Maybe we could offer $20 individual membership and $30 family membership to cover an entire household. I would happily pay and extra $10. Since we have not legally defined what a person is it would also cover your pets as well.
